PEDEMONTANA LOMBARDA The smart road designed to decongest traffic on the Milan ring road presented – Current affairs

We could define it as a real smart road, green and capable of offering innovative solutions during the construction phase, as in the future management of the work, aiming to decongest traffic on the Milan ring road and a general redevelopment of the area.

It is the Pedemontana Lombarda motorway, of which the Webuild Group will build sections B2 and C, a project presented in Meda, in the province of Milan, with the participation of Matteo Salvini, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, of Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, of Alessandro Morelli, Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers with responsibility for CIPESS, of Gianantonio Arnoldi, CEO of CAL, of Luigi Roth, President of Autostrada Pedemontana Lombarda and of Pietro Salini, CEO of Webuild.

The project is carried out by the consortium led by Webuild, with a 70% share, with Impresa Pizzarotti at 30%. Sections B2 and C will be completed by 2026 and involve a total investment of approximately €1.26 billion. The order will reach a peak of 1,500 people.

Overall, the project involves the executive design and construction of approximately 26 kilometers of motorway, with the aim of reorganizing road connections in the Varese-Como-Bergamo-Milan quadrant. Section B2, approximately 10 kilometers long, connects to the already existing Section B1, winding between Lentate sul Seveso and Cesano Maderno. Section C extends for over 16 kilometers and connects Cesano Maderno and Usmate-Velate. Both routes include trenches, embankments, tunnels and viaducts, ensuring efficient and modern road connectivity.

In Northern Italy, the Webuild Group is working on the implementation of numerous strategic projects for the development of the TEN-T trans-European networks, from the Unico Terzo Valido dei Giovi-Nodo di Genova project, a high-speed high-speed railway line between Genoa and Milan , to the Verona-Padua high-speed line, to the numerous lots part of the Brenner Base Tunnel project, on the strategic Munich-Verona axis. Added to these are the works for the high-capacity railway line Fortezza-Ponte Gardena and the Trento ring road, for the connection of the line to Fortezza and Trento respectively.
