An American military plane crashed in northern Norway during a NATO exercise. This was confirmed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centers, explaining that the V-22 Osprey aircraft was taking part in the ‘Cold Response’ military exercise.
An investigation has been opened, the American media reported. All four US troops aboard are dead, Nordland Police Chief of Staff Bent Arne Eilertsen told broadcaster Nrk. The Marines reported that the plane was involved in “an accident”.
The news was given by the Norwegian Relief Coordination Center (Jrcc). The V-22 Osprey of the Marine Corps was supposed to land around 19 Italian time, but it was lost track just before 18.30. A spokesman for the Jrcc said the aircraft “hit the ground” while there was bad weather in the area.
