The Tribulation Society convened an international theological conference, and the Pope wrote to the president of the congregation, wishing this conference “under the light of the wisdom of the cross, a new understanding of contemporary challenges”.
(Vatican News Network)To celebrate its 300th anniversary, the Jesus Christ Tribulation Society held an international theological conference at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome from September 21 to 24. The theme was “The Wisdom of the Cross in a Plural World“. On this occasion, Pope Francis wrote to Father Joachim Rego, President of the Tribulation Society, wishing this conference “under the light of the wisdom of the cross, a new understanding of contemporary challenges”.
The Pope stated in his letter that these theological conferences are consistent with the wish of San Paolo della Croce (San Paolo della Croce), the founder of the Tribulation Society, to “ensure the core of the Christian faith and the charity of the Tribulation Society family: the Passover Mystery, To be promoted and spread to respond to God’s love and to pay attention to the expectations and hopes of the world”.
Next, the pope mentioned contemplating Jesus on the cross. He said, “We see the mercy of God embracing every aspect of humanity.” The love of God extends to everyone and “reaches all the predicaments of mankind, uniting our vertical relationship with God and horizontal relationship with all people”.
The Pope said that the cross shows us the importance of combining reason with a humble heart. The cross is “the source of salvation in every place and in every age”, especially at the moment we are in.
At the end of the letter, the Pope wished the theological conference “under the light of the wisdom of the cross, a new understanding of contemporary challenges in order to promote loyalty to God’s plan and concern for the evangelization of mankind”
