PPP Doesn’t Pass to Senayan, This is the Number of Votes 4 Islamic Parties Get

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United Development Party (PP) is certain to not qualify for parliament after failing to meet the 4% parliamentary threshold. PPP not passing is bad news for Islamic parties because there are only two political parties (political parties) that have qualified for Senayan.

The recapitulation of the General Election Commission (KPU) noted that PPP only received 5,878,777 votes or 3.87%. This amount is not enough for PPP to advance to Senayan.
This is the first time that the PPP has not qualified for Senayan since it was founded in 1973. One of the oldest parties in Indonesia was unable to compete with other parties.
For the record, the 2024 election will be participated by 24 political parties, including local political parties. Based on KPU calculations, only eight political parties (parpol) succeeded in securing seats in the People’s Representative Council (DPR) or progressing to Senayan.

The eight parties that have qualified for Senayan are as follows:
1. PDI-Struggle
2. Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra)
3. Work Group Party (Golkar)
4. Nasdem Party
5. National Awakening Party (PKB)
6. Prosperous Justice Party (PKS)
7. Democratic Party
8. National Mandate Party (PAN).

Referring to the data above, there are only two Islamic parties that have qualified for Senayan, namely PKB and PKS. Two other Islamic parties, namely the PPP and the Ummat Party, failed to meet the parliamentary threshold.

Of the four Islamic parties, PKB was the biggest vote gainer, namely 16,115,655 or 10.62. The following is the vote tally for Islamic parties in the 2024 election:

1. PKB
Total votes 16,115. 655 or 10.62%

2. PKS
the number of votes was 12,781. 353 or 8.42%

3. PPP
Total votes 5,878,777 or 3.87%

4. Ummah Party
Total votes 642,545 or 0.42%

The large Muslim population in Indonesia actually provides an opportunity for Islamic parties to have strong support. However, Islamic parties lost in attracting the masses compared to Nationalist parties such as PDI Perjuangan.

For information, several years ago there was talk of Islamic parties uniting to form a new axis. As is known, currently there are three major parties that have been synonymous with the majority religion in Indonesia, namely PKB, PKS and PPP.

The votes for the three tended to increase but fell in 2019. Of the three major political parties, PKS was able to record a significant increase since the 2004 election.

PKS votes in the 2024 election jumped 53.5% compared to 2004 while PKB shot up 34.4% and on the other hand PPP actually fell 36.4%.

Compared to the 2019 election or five years ago, PKB was able to record the sharpest increase, namely 20.8%, while PKS rose 13.17%. For the record, three major Islamic parties support different candidates in this year’s presidential election.

PKS-PKB supports the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar camp while PPP supports the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD camp.
