Manchester City find themselves in pole position in the fight for the Premier League title at the end of the 33rd day. Their two rivals, Arsenal and Liverpool, both lost big on Sunday.
The Citizens, holders of the trophy for three seasons, put pressure on their opponents by easily beating Luton 5-1 on Saturday. Arsenal lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa, who stole nothing and strengthened their 4th place in the table. After hitting the bar twice, the Villans ended up cementing their domination with goals from Bailey (84th) and Watkins (87th).
Three days after undoubtedly having buried their hopes in the Europa League, Liverpool also lost their illusions in the Premier League. The Reds were beaten 1-0 at home by Crystal Palace. Jürgen Klopp’s men seem to be lacking energy and success at the wrong time. They once again wasted big chances while displaying culpable defensive fragility. The London visitors scored through Eze in the 14th minute and then defended well and massively.
Manchester City is therefore leader with two points ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool. A new title extends its arms to Pep Guardiola and his men.
