A few days ago, I had the honor of attending the awards ceremony for ten young Cameroonians who stood out in the TOYP (Ten Outstanding Young Persons) program for their entrepreneurial spirit. This exceptional evening, organized by the Junior Chamber International Cameroon (JCIC) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), took place in Yaoundé on October 13, 2023.
This event aimed to highlight young talents who, through their innovative projects, transform their environment and contribute to the development of Cameroon. The winners, from various sectors of activity, were selected according to rigorous criteria such as the relevance of their project, the impact on the community and its sustainability. Initially, there were 211 applications, supported by photos, videos and links to different sites. Finally, ten winners were chosen by a online voting public.

The inspiring example of Pierrette Aoussinsa Tizi, winner of the TOYP
Among the recipients, I was particularly touched by the story of Pierrette Aoussinsa Tizipresident of the association « Sahel Entrepreneurs » in the Far North of Cameroon. Her work to promote the education of children and young girls in this region plagued by insecurity has been recognized and praised. Thanks to its association, many children have been able to return to school or launch into entrepreneurship. For six years, she worked tirelessly to encourage education in a region where the school enrollment rate is particularly low. Its action is mainly concentrated in Mayo Sava, an area of insecurity, where it raises awareness within communities and schools. It gives hope to these children, some of whom are unfortunately victims of mutilation. His dedication and commitment are an inspiration to us all.

The importance of entrepreneurship for the development of Cameroon
At the closing of the ceremony, the national president of the JCIC, Mr. Chancelin Boutchouang Nghomsi, underlined the importance of entrepreneurship in the development of Cameroon. This evening was an opportunity to celebrate the commitment and determination of these young Cameroonians who, through their hard work, contribute to making the country better. Their entrepreneurial spirit and ability to innovate are valuable assets for the future of Cameroon.
Ultimately, this awards night was a true honor for me. I was able to meet exceptional young entrepreneurs and witness their positive impact on Cameroonian society. Their determination and perseverance are an inspiration to us all. I would like to once again congratulate the TOYP winners and thank JCIC and UNDP for organizing this memorable event.
Together, let’s support and encourage these young talents who are shaping the future of Cameroon.
