Paris Saint-Germain and Dortmund qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League after first leg defeats. PSG wins 4-1 after 2-3 at home in Spain, Dortmund corrects the 1-2 with a 4-2 home win.

It was a worthy continuation of the first part: Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain also offered pure spectacle in the Catalan capital. The French champions had the better end because they were able to play in the majority for an hour. After the red card against Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo (29th), PSG clearly dominated the game and turned 0-1 into 4-1.
Ousmane Dembélé, the former Barça player who was whistled by the fans, played a decisive role in two goals: he scored the 1-1 five minutes before half-time and made it 3-1 after an hour by playing in the penalty area had been fouled. Kylian Mbappé scored safely from the penalty spot. The Portuguese Vitinha made it 2-1 just seven minutes before PSG’s third goal.
The scenario with the final 4-1 from double goalscorer Mbappé shortly before the end was brutal for the Catalans, who were so confident of victory after the first leg. It was not for nothing that coach Xavi completely lost his composure at the beginning of the second half and was sent to the stands. For Barcelona, the second leg got off to an ideal start with Raphinha’s 1-0 lead with the first chance to score. Fifteen minutes later, the young Bradley Barcola ran away from Araujo and provoked his emergency brake just before the penalty area.

There was also a rollercoaster of emotions in Dortmund. BVB needed not one but two double blows to qualify for the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2013, which they play against PSG in two weeks. Atlético Madrid, winners 2-1 in the first leg, still had an answer to the goals from Julian Brandt (34th) and Ian Maatsen (39th). Thanks to an own goal from Mats Hummels and a goal from Angel Correa, the Spaniards got back on track for the semi-finals in the 64th minute.
The score was 2-2 for seven minutes before Dortmund struck twice again: Niklas Füllkrug (71′) and Marcel Sabitzer (74′) scored to make it 4-2, which secured progression for Gregor Kobel and Co.
