PSSI calls 27 players for training camp for the U-23 Asian Cup

Jakarta (ANTARA) – PSSI announced that it was calling 27 players to undergo a training camp and trial matches in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in preparation for the U-23 Asian Cup, Monday morning WIB.

The tournament between Asian countries itself will take place from April 15 to May 3.

The Garuda Muda team gathered in Jakarta on Sunday (31/3). PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir took the time to meet them on Sunday evening at the hotel where the players were staying to provide encouragement and motivation.

The plan is that on Monday, the U-23 national team will leave for Dubai to undergo a ten-day training camp.

U-23 national team coach Shin Tae-yong appreciated Erick’s help, who has provided full support so that his team can make achievements in this year’s U-23 Asian Cup.

“With the support (from PSSI) in discontinuing League 1, the General Chairman (Erick Thohir) advised us to perform better in the U-23 Asian Cup,” said Shin as quoted from the official PSSI website.

“Today (Sunday) we gather and tomorrow (Monday) we leave for Dubai. So I thank Mr Erick Thohir, the club owners and coaches of League 1 clubs. In the middle of the league it is difficult for clubs to release players, but “As soon as I was released, I thought I had to try as hard as possible to advance Indonesian football better than now. Once again I would like to thank Mr. Erick, PSSI, club owners and League 1 coaches,” added the coach from South Korea.

Persija Jakarta is the team that contributed the most players, namely five players. Followed by Borneo FC with four players, and PSIS Semarang with three players.
