United Russia, the ruling party in Russia, wins the elections for the renewal of the State Duma (Lower House of Parliament), but has to deal with a sharp decline in consensus compared to the 2016 vote and start asking questions in sight of 2024, when the presidential elections will be held. With 80 percent of the votes scrutinized – in these elections tainted by heavy allegations of fraud – United Russia gets 49.76 percent of the vote, five points below 54 percent collected in 2016, but still enough to secure itself the constitutional parliamentary majority.
