Putting up the maypole – volunteer fire brigade playing field

Putting up the maypole in Hügelsheim is not only a nice celebration, but also a way to strengthen the community. Every year, the Field Fire Department traditionally puts up the maypole and thanks the organizers for their crucial role. Michael Rode and Patrick Tischler were responsible for this year’s tree and they did a good job. This time the tree comes from Ratsch an der Weinstraße and was generously donated by Kurt Stöckler. This is a nice example of good cooperation and support within the community. Particularly noteworthy are the carvings by Werner Schintler and Martin Tretenjak, who made the tree a true work of art. The maypole was erected manually with asparagus by the Chambers of the FF Field, supported by the “Transport Hizmann” crane. The mayor Johann Lappi and his representative Vzbm Vehovec-Huhs Romana were on site as guests of honor and welcomed those present together with the local councilors. After the maypole was put up, a raffle was held to determine who could keep the maypole. This year, a resident of Hügelsheim was lucky enough to win the coveted maypole. The participation of the fire departments from Oberschwarza and Obergralla promoted cooperation between the fire departments. The field music club created a happy atmosphere with its musical performance. Under the direction of Chairman Dipl. Ing. Michael Blaschitz and Kapellmeister Mag. Josef Ferk, the musicians presented a diverse repertoire. The audience was thrilled by the musical accompaniment and enjoyed the day to the fullest. The Field Fire Department is proud to keep this tradition alive and would like to thank everyone involved who contributed to the success of putting up the maypole. It is a special moment when the community comes together and celebrates the beauty and meaning of this custom.
