One person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting at a New York City subway station, police said. Police add that the suspect in the shooting managed to escape after opening fire around 4:38 p.m. The shooting occurred in the Bronx area.

According to what was reported by the New York Post, the 5 injured people are all between 12 and 17 years old, while the one who lost her life was a girl who was hit in the face and died after being rushed to St. Barnabas hospital. One of the wounded was hit in the leg. The shooting, the newspaper reports, took place at 4.40pm, rush hour, at Mount Eden Avenue station, probably during an argument. Witnesses reported hearing ten shots.
