The Spanish favorites won the doubleheader 2-1 on aggregate, but Real’s offense only appeared in glimpses during the 180 minutes.

On Wednesday, Vinicius Junior’s goal in the 65th minute was the possession. He was last on a perfect counterattack started by Toni Kroos, and Jude Bellingham was the man to send a stick through the Leipzig defence.

The leadership lasted only a few minutes. Willi Orbán won the captain’s duel with Nacho in the box and cashed in 1-1 on a swing.

Real Madrid were put to several tests after the equaliser, and in extra time Dani Olmo placed a ball on the crossbar.

Weak

An awkward home team was booed off the field at half-time. Those present had then seen RB Leipzig play to many finishes and run into dangerous situations.

At the opposite end, Real Madrid had hardly offered anything.

– They have simply been miserable. One of the weakest halves of the season from Real Madrid, said Morten Langli in TV 2’s halftime studio.

Xavi Simons was responsible for the biggest chance of the first half a few minutes before the break. He aimed for the far post, but Real’s cage keeper Andrij Lunin boxed away.

Imprecise

RB Leipzig played aggressively and had six of the game’s first ten finishes, but only one of them was on target. As in the home game, the Germans struggled with precision.

Last month, Real Madrid were lucky to come away without conceding a goal. On Wednesday, the score was broken, but Leipzig’s score came too late.
