Former Miss Ecuador candidate Landy Párraga, 23, was tragically murdered while dining at a restaurant in the city of Quevedo, Los Ríos province, one of the most violent areas in Ecuador. The Ecuadorian Police are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause of death and identify those responsible.
The Ecuadorian Prosecutor’s Office has also joined the investigation, with officials on site to collect evidence and begin determining accountability for this senseless act of violence. Párraga, who participated in the Miss Ecuador pageant in 2022 representing the province of Los Ríos, was well known in the community.
In a disturbing revelation, it was disclosed that Párraga’s name was mentioned in a chat conversation within the ongoing “Metastasis” case, an investigation into an organized crime structure that has led to multiple arrests. Allegedly, the late drug trafficker Leandro Norero expressed concerns about Párraga being linked to money laundering accusations and took steps to distance himself from her.
Following Norero’s death in prison in 2022, further evidence emerged linking him to a criminal network that has reportedly infiltrated various State institutions. Despite her mention in the Metastasis case, Párraga had not been charged by the Prosecutor’s Office and had chosen to remain silent on the matter.
The community is in shock over the tragic loss of Landy Párraga and demands justice for her untimely death. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in bringing those responsible to account for this heinous crime.
