The 3rd edition of @festivalvortice – largest contemporary art sexuality festival, founded in 2022 by Leonardo Maciel and Paulo Cibella – takes place between May 31st and June 30th, at Edifício Vera. There are different types of works and formats that adapt to the festival’s regulations: painting, photography, sculpture, video, performance and even book launches. Participants must be over 18 years old and can be independent artists or represented by galleries.
Those interested in participating in the 3rd edition of the Vórtice Festival can submit up to five works, in multiple languages, via the form on the website.
The selection committee, formed by Leonardo Maciel and Paulo Cibella, will analyze the materials sent and the result of the notice is expected to be published on May 8th.
About the event
The Vórtice Festival has transformed the universe of contemporary art, as it is a space for exchange and dialogue about love, desire, sexuality, pleasure, seduction, eroticism and perversion.
The first editions attracted a diverse range of audiences, including artists, collectors, art advisors, agents and art lovers, architects, academic researchers, doctors, human rights activists, members of the LGBT+ community and, most importantly, people interested in exploring sexuality in an open and inclusive manner; sexuality seen as an exchange of energy between individuals.
“It’s incredible how in less than five years our festival has grown – in the first edition, in 2022, we had six artists participating and a 25m² space. In the second, we had an increase to 24 artists and a larger space with three exhibition rooms, totaling 75m². And now, for this third edition, we will have a significant change: the exhibition will feature the participation of approximately 100 artists and will take place, for the first time, in the 195m² exhibition hall of the Vera Building – which is located right in the historic center of São Paulo, a building entirely dedicated to art production and housing more than 50 visual artists’ ateliers and four exhibition rooms.”, explains Paulo Cibella, director of Vórtice Cultural and one of the festival’s creators.
