Remco Evenepoel didn’t have a very good day at Paris-Nice. He finished fourth, but lost time in the General Classification. “Maybe next time I shouldn’t think so much,” Evenepoel told Belgian channel Sporza after the sixth stage.
Hard day
“It was a difficult day. It took a long time for the race to start. I really felt good,” said Evenepoel. In the final part of the sixth stage, he managed to demonstrate his strength, but it was not enough to neutralize the damage caused by the victorious trio.
Evenepoel managed to stand out at the end of the stage, but there was nothing else to do
“Maybe I bet too much on the climb. Maybe I could have reacted to Matteo Jorgenson’s attack. I made a small tactical error. No, a big tactical error,” he corrected.
Everyone looked at Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic
“And they reached the top of the podium in three. Then everyone looked at me and Primoz Roglic, which makes sense. Therefore, we lost a lot of time in this final stretch. That’s what racing is like.”
Evenepoel still had a counterattack in mind, but ended up giving up. “Maybe next time I shouldn’t think so much and just follow my instinct and my legs.”
