Leaders of Hamas and Houthi Insurgents Coordinate Actions Against Israel
In a recent development, Palestinian Islamic terrorist group Hamas and Yemen’s Houthi insurgents were reported to have held a secret meeting to coordinate their actions against Israel. Western reports citing Palestinian sources have revealed this collaboration between the two groups.
The spokesman for the Yemeni Houthis, Nasr Al Din Amer, recently announced that Hamas is holding hostage the crew of a merchant ship captured by the Yemeni jihadists last November. The cargo ship, named Galaxy Leader, was captured by Houthi jihadists on November 19, 2023. The crew of the ship includes individuals from various nationalities, including Filipinos, Bulgarians, Ukrainians, Mexicans, and Romanians.
Hamas, known for its open promotion of the destruction of Israel, and the Houthi insurgents form part of the so-called “Axis of Resistance,” a coalition of anti-Semitic groups led by Iran. This coalition also includes Hezbollah in Lebanon and Iraqi Shiite militias.
The Yemeni Houthis claim that their attacks on Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea are in solidarity with the Palestinians. These aggressions by the Houthis in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden began following the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas. The conflict was instigated by Hamas on October 7, with a brutal attack in Israeli territory that resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 individuals and the kidnapping of 240 others.
The collaboration between Hamas and the Houthi insurgents raises concerns about the escalation of tensions in the region and the potential for further violence against Israel. The international community is closely monitoring the situation as these groups continue to coordinate their actions against a common enemy.
