The Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz took the victory in the queen stage of the Tour Colombia, after crowning the Alto del Vino, in an exciting definition in which Rodrigo Contreras managed to defend his leadership in the general classification.
The Ecuadorians were the great protagonists of the day, since second place went to Jonathan Caicedo. The only Colombian who managed to keep up with them was Contreras, who finished third, with enough time to remain the leader of the competition.
From the first mountain prize of the day, 13 runners fled, staying in front until the last mountain prize Wilmar Paredes, who was caught just over 12 kilometers into the race.

Once Paredes was reached, Carapaz began to break the main group together with Esteban Chaves, first with an attack that selected the race and to which his compatriots Jefferson Cepeda and Caicedo, as well as Contreras and Egan Bernal, could barely respond.
Once again the EF Education runner attacked, just 5 kilometers away, leaving the three in front of the stage with Caicedo and Contreras, who ultimately completed the podium in the general classification of the race, pending the closing this Sunday in Bogota.
Rodrigo Contreras leads the general classification with a 17″ advantage over Richard Carapaz and 24″ over Jonathan Caicedo. In fourth position overall is Rigoberto Urán, 48″ away; while Egan Bernal is fifth, 50″ away.
