Crystal Palace reports that manager Roy Hodgson has fallen ill during Thursday’s training.

Therefore, the club must cancel the planned press conference ahead of the meeting with Everton, which will be played on Monday evening.

Emergency admission to hospital

Later on Thursday, several British media reports, including The Guardianthat the 76-year-old must have been urgently admitted to hospital.

The club published a message on X where they informed about Hodgson’s state of health, but deleted it soon after.

“We can confirm that he is stable and undergoing medical tests at the hospital. Everyone at the club wishes Roy a speedy recovery,” the statement said.

The same statement was again published at 17:49.

It is not yet known what kind of disease it is.

Speculations

This comes at the same time as there is fierce speculation about Hodgson’s future at the London club.

Sky Sport reported earlier on Thursday that the veteran will, by all indications, be fired from his job at Palace. The BBC has also reported that the veteran will be finished in the manager’s job shortly.

According to several sources, the Premier League club is working to bring in the Austrian Oliver Glasner as a replacement for Hodgson.

Palace is in 15th place in the Premier League so far. The club has collected 24 points from 24 games.

The 76-year-old was manager of Palace in the period from 2017 to 2021, before he made a comeback as a savior last season.

In the comeback, he did the job so well that he was allowed to continue this season as well.

Hodgson has a long career behind him at clubs such as Inter, Blackburn, Fulham, Liverpool and Viking – to name a few. He was also national team coach for the English national team in the period 2012 to 2016.
