Russia says it shot down 38 Ukrainian drones headed for Crimea

The Russian Ministry of Defense he said that on Sunday morning the country’s air defense systems intercepted and shot down 38 Ukrainian drones aimed at Crimea, the peninsula in the Black Sea occupied and illegally annexed by Russia in 2014. During the night, around 2 am local time (when in Italy it was ‘one), some explosions had been reported on social media in the port of Feodosia, in the eastern part of Crimea. At the moment the Russian authorities have not specified whether there was any damage or injuries. Ukrainian authorities did not comment.

Since last summer, Ukraine has been increasing military pressure on Crimea, which is a strategic area for Russia and also has great symbolic value. Ukraine’s objective is to cut all connecting lines between Crimea and the rest of Russia, which would have very serious effects on the maneuvers and supplies of the Russian army fighting in the Black Sea area.
