In Russia, the prosecutor’s office asked for Alexei Navalny, the main opponent of President Vladimir Putin, who is already in prison, 13 years in prison and a fine of 1.2 million rubles. Sentenced to two and a half years in prison a year ago, Navalny in the new trial is accused of “fraud and insulting a magistrate”.
“I ask you to find Navalny guilty of the charges against him and to impose a sentence of 13 years in prison,” said the prosecutor who also asked that the opponent be imposed a substantial fine.
