Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, March 24 (Reporter Huadi) After the Russian stock market was closed for nearly a month, some stock trading resumed on the 24th. As of the close, the Moscow Stock Exchange index rose 4.37%, after rising more than 10% during the session.
On the same day, 33 stocks of the 50 constituent stocks of the Moscow Stock Exchange Index resumed trading. The trading hours are from 9:50 to 14:00 Moscow time (14:50 to 19:00 Beijing time), and short selling is prohibited.
Due to geopolitical factors, Russia suspended its stock market trading at the end of February. On March 21, the Moscow Stock Exchange, one of Russia’s two major stock exchanges, resumed trading of bonds of the Russian government.
After Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in February this year, the United States and other Western countries have significantly upgraded sanctions against Russia, including excluding some Russian banks from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Communication (SWIFT) system.
