Two more days, Liverpool will play in final Carabao Cup 2023/2024. Three of the Reds’ core players are still waiting for certainty to appear.

Liverpool will duel with Chelsea at Wembley, Sunday (25/2/2024) evening WIB. This is the first trophy to be contested on English soil this season.

Liverpool are indeed favored by a number of betting houses to become champions in this event. However, the current condition of the Merseyside team could threaten their chances of becoming winners.

This is because Liverpool has been hit by a storm of injuries which have befallen a number of its core players simultaneously over the past week. In fact, four players are certain to be absent, such as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones, who only returned around mid-March.

Meanwhile, the progress of three core players such as Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai will continue to be monitored in the next two days. All three were absent when Liverpool beat Luton Town 4-1 two days ago.

“We have to undergo a crazy schedule again, because we play every three days. It is important for us to use every minute, every day to monitor the condition of the players. This applies to Mo, Dom and Darwin,” said Liverpool assistant manager Pep Linjders on the official website club.

“We’ll see their condition in the next two training sessions and after that we can only make a decision at the last minute.”

If the three of them are absent, then Liverpool will suffer a loss considering their important role, especially Salah and Nunez who are the team’s top scorers with 19 goals and 14 goals in all competitions.
