Salman Rushdie improves, is on the mend, says his agent, and hasn’t lost his sense of humor, the family said, two days after the Anglo-Indian writer was violently stabbed ten times by an American of Lebanese descent during a conference at the Chautauqua Cultural Center in the north of the United States.

“The road to recovery has begun,” his agent Andrew Wylie said in a statement sent to Washington Post.
