SanIsidro will present its “SAMBORI” in the VOL room

SanIsidro lands with the entire group on the VOL room from Barcelona to show his first LP called “SAMBORI” (23) the Friday February 23. With a psychedelic-folk-Mediterranean mix, driven by exuberant instrumentation (flamenco and electric guitars, bass, percussion and winds), this work presented by the Valencian does not belong to any specific genre. The guitarist opens the night Negroa history of The Chestnut who returns to the stage touring with the singer-songwriter.

In a world in which haste and selfishness prevail, the postulates of SanIsidro They are revolutionaries. When facing this new project, Isidro Rubio I was clear about it: I wanted this to be kind and enveloping music, that would keep everyone company who stopped to listen to it. With an immaculate record in punk and rock’n’roll bands (Wow and the Arrrghs!!!, Johnny Casino o King Khan), it was time to change gears. The reflection of it now takes the form of simple and at the same time exuberant music, full of nuances, where rhythms and cadences of any genre can be mixed.

For example, “Silver Bridge”, a letter of introduction to a new work that takes us to folk coordinates, but that has its sights set on many other places in the world. Without going any further, it presents a Middle Eastern melody with a Caribbean rhythm, accompanied by congas. From the very way it was conceived, this song—and the rest of those that complete the lot—challenges the logic of a market that invites rapid consumption and passive listening.

Isidro himself says that one of the advantages of doing it on your own is composing without any rush. The Valencian musician assures that he has no formula or recurring starting point, but that he tries to channel the music that affects him into what he does. This, as is more than clear in “SAMBORI”, has many different forms and origins. It is a work that invites contemplation, to be savored. The artistic freedom that guided the composition process is perceived in songs lacking ties and in the astonishing ease with which SanIsidro moves from one record to another.

The singer-songwriter debuted in 2020 with an EP published by the North American label Slovenly. “SAMBORI” (the Valencian word for hopscotch) seems like a more than apt title for this new collection of playful, suggestive songs with the ability to transport you to another time and another place.
