The President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, is hospitalized at the Hôpital Civil in Strasbourg for pneumonia not linked to Covid-19, specifies his spokesperson Roberto Cuillo. Sassoli, vaccinated with Pfizer, tested negative in all tests carried out since his hospitalization. “The pneumonia was immediately treated with the appropriate therapies and his condition is now good,” explains Cuillo in a note.
Sassoli had been taken to hospital on September 15, while the president of the Commission Ursula von der Leyen he was giving his State of the Union address in Strasbourg. His spokesman had made it known that the president would have to give up presiding over the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg due to a fever, spreading a note in the afternoon in which he explained he had undergone a first swab and had tested negative for Covid- 19.

And precisely to allow the President of the European Parliament to recover soon, his spokesman announced that all the appointments on the agenda are currently canceled, waiting for Sassoli to recover completely in the Strasbourg hospital.
