MILANO – “I thought that they were trying to attack the heart of European democracy, this means that the European Parliament is doing its duty in signaling, recalling, defending the values of the rule of law and freedoms”.
This was stated by the president of the European Parliament David Sassoli this morning to the Giornale Radio Rai (Radio1) commenting on the sanctions adopted by Russia which establish a ban on entry into the country for Sassoli himself and other European exponents. The Navalny case, he added, “weighs a lot because it is a popular opponent, at the same time calling for the principles of freedom, democracy, freedom of expression”.
