Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April Savigliano is the “capital” of the world of comics: 8 thematic areas, cosplayers, workshops, performances and many guestsyes Giovanni Muciaccia a Giorgio Vanni.
“Savix – Comics & Bricks”: event, organized by the Municipality of Savigliano, debuted last year to remember the young Francesco Gerbaldo, journalist of the Corriere di Savigliano and great fan of the comics world who died prematurely. This second edition is entitled “The awakening of the heroes”.
All the ingredients that made the success and record turnout of the first edition confirmed: great guests, performances, stands, cosplayers, workshops, exhibitors and much more.
This year too the event will unfold along the streets and squares of the historic center of Savigliano, with 8 thematic areas, some of which are new and expanded.
The fulcrum this time too will be the “Banca Crs” Main Stage Area in Piazza Santarosa. The large stage, like last year, will host concerts, presentations, meetings and institutional moments. The “Weloco” Expo Area will unfold in Piazza Santarosa and Via Sant’Andrea: there you will be able to find a wide range of comics, manga, figures, Funko Pop, gadgets, video games, collectible cards, official merchandising and much more.
Piazza Cavour – new – will host the “Fondazione Crs” workshop area: a dynamic and stimulating environment, designed to ignite the spark of creativity through creative workshops.
The Artist Alley “Confartigianato Cuneo” in Via Torino will also make its appearance for the first time: an area at the complete disposal of artists, both young emerging artists and already established professionals. The Libera Accademia d’Arte Novalia will be present inside the Agora.
Piazza del Popolo will host the “Piennezeta & Vineria Il Roma” games area: a space in which to try out board games, role-playing games, Magic and Arcade Games tournaments, supported by volunteers. Daily entertainment will be guaranteed by Trs radio, which will give space to emerging local bands during aperitif hours. The Piazza del Popolo Wing will be the “home” of the Bricks Area “Mattoncino Store”. Over 1,000 square meters with 60 exhibitors and 130 tables, where you can find Mocs, dioramas and enormous collections. With the possibility of making purchases from one of the three shops present. The “Sottopelle Tattoo” Cosplay Area will be set up in Piazza Cesare Battisti, a meeting place for the many cosplayers present at the fair, information point and changing room. To complete the “map”, the “Mondadori Book Store” Meet & Greet Area: in the new space set up in Piazza Santarosa thanks to the collaboration with Mondadori Book Store, you will have the opportunity to meet your favorite artist and take part in book signings, presentations, selfies and much more.
This year too, numerous and prestigious guests will take part in the event.
Saturday 20 April, in the afternoon, Giovanni Muciaccia, face of the unforgettable children’s show “Art Attack”, will arrive, while in the evening the best cartoon theme tunes will be sung and danced, with “Miwa and his members”. But the already announced Popowl, creator, the artist Federico Cecchin, the lego builder Andrea Lattanzio, the designer Emmanuele Baccinelli, the voice actor Gianandrea Muià, the cartoonist Giorgio Sommacal, the designer Simona Capovilla and Federica Marongiu, writer and designer (just to name a few). The singer Giorgio Vanni will close the dance in the late afternoon on Sunday, returning to Savigliano after the great success recorded last year.
New for the 2024 edition, the Cosplay Competition, in collaboration with Cosplay Italia, complete with a parade and exhibition in the historic center. To show those who attend the beauty of the costumes of characters from films, comics and anime.
On Sunday afternoon, participants will be evaluated based on performance, costume workmanship, interpretation and faithfulness to the character. Awards will be given to the best cosplayer, the best cosplay couple/group and the best female cosplayer, as well as the kids prize and the best performance prize. The competition will be conducted by MochiChuu, and the jury will be made up of nationally known figures: LoonAlptraum, Maddie_Lena, and Imriel, professional level judges of Cosplay Italia.
Alongside the actual event, “Savix Off” was set up, a rich program of collateral events.
It starts on April 13th at the “L.” civic library. Bàccolo”, where the cartoonist Icarotuttlə will arrive: he will present “The dead don’t take the elevator”, in dialogue with Marco Caglieri.
Pre-sales for the theater show are now open.”Vegeta is dead (and I killed him!)”, by Gianluca Iacono, famous Italian voice actor, voice of Vegeta in “Dragon Ball”, as well as iconic characters such as Gordon Ramsay in “Hell’s Kitchen” and Marshall Eriksen in “How I met your mother”. Appointment for Friday April 19th, at 9pm, at the Milanollo theatre. (Tickets available on the Vivaticket circuit or at the Culture Office of the Town Hall, from Monday to Thursday from 9 to 12).
From April 20th to May 5th, at the “A. Olmo” the exhibition “Rebels in confinement” will be set up, organized by Anppia (National Association of Italian Anti-Fascist Political Prisoners) and can be visited in collaboration with the Savigliano section of Anpi. This is an exhibition born from a graphic novel by Maurizio Ribichini, which aims to attract the interest (even) of the youngest.
On the evening of Sunday 21 April, the screening of master Hayao Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece: The Boy and the Heron will be held at the Aurora cinema.
Worth mentioning is the Lego-themed contest in collaboration with Oasi Giovani (the awards ceremony for which will take place on Sunday 21 April, at 10.30, at Trs Spot in Piazza del Popolo) and the solidarity initiative, which will find its home under the multipurpose wing, in correspondence of the Bricks area.
There is also space for competitions. One in collaboration with the ass. Papersera, which will reward the best young artist who has distinguished himself on the pages of the weekly Topolino, the other in collaboration with the Corriere di Savigliano and the Gerbaldo family. This latest recognition – in its second edition, aimed at middle and high schools in the Savigliano area – includes two sections: theme or newspaper article and drawing or comic strip. The theme chosen for 2024 is kindness, a distinctive trait of Francesco Gerbaldo.
