Flintbek: Runoff election for mayor on Sunday
In Flintbek (Rendsburg-Eckernförde district) a runoff election on Sunday will decide who will be the new mayor. The non-partisan Stefan Bettin is running against the non-partisan Ralf Tesler. In the first round of voting two weeks ago, Bettin received the most votes with almost 47 percent, while Tesler received around 27 percent. Bettin, who is supported by the Greens and the FDP, wants, among other things, to make Flintbek’s administration more digital and push forward the redesign of the town center. His opponent Tesler sat for the SPD in the Kiel council meeting for many years and is supported by the Social Democrats. The 57-year-old wants to work, among other things, for better walking and cycling paths as well as more shopping opportunities and cultural offerings. Northern derby: SG Flensburg-Handewitt defeats Kiel
Handball Bundesliga team SG Flensburg-Handewitt also won the second leg against THW Kiel and won 33:26. For the SG it was the biggest away win in Kiel in the Bundesliga. Bomb defusal in Kiel on Sunday
In the Elmschenhagen district of Kiel, an aerial bomb from the Second World War was defused again on Sunday. It is located in the same allotment area as the four American bombs that were defused in Elmschenhagen two weeks ago. Accident involving five cars on the A23
After an accident on the A23 between Hohenfelde (Steinburg district) and Horst/Elmshorn (Pinneberg district), the route in the direction of Hamburg had to be closed for several hours on Saturday. Earth Hour: It’s getting dark in SH too
On Saturday, during Earth Hour between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the lights around the world will be turned off as a sign of more climate protection. Tanker truck overturned in Dithmarschen
A tanker truck overturned in Dithmarschen on Saturday. According to police, the vehicle came to rest with its tires up on a country road between the towns of Schlichting and Bösbüttel. Still free accommodation over Easter

Fire in Achtrup and Oering – warehouse and thatched roof house destroyed
Two fires kept hundreds of firefighters in Schleswig-Holstein on tenterhooks on Friday evening and Saturday night. AKN adjusts timetable due to staff shortage
