Forbes magazine released, this Tuesday (2), its traditional annual list of the richest people in the world, which included the 34-year-old American singer Taylor Swift, among other celebrities with large fortunes.
According to the publication, Swift has a net worth of US$1.1 billion (R$5.5 billion). The artist is the first music professional to reach the ten-digit level of wealth solely in the value of her musical catalog and performances – taking into account the successive records of her tour The Eras Tourwhich took place last year and whose revenue exceeded US$ 1 billion.
Now businessman Earvin “Magic” Johnson, a legend of the NBA, the biggest basketball league in the world, is also new to the Forbes list of billionaires. His net worth is estimated at $1.2 billion, thanks to investments in professional sports teams, movie theaters, Starbucks franchises, real estate and healthcare.

French designer Christian Louboutin – who needs no introduction for those who know heel shoes with red soles – also appeared in the ranking, with an estimated fortune of US$1.2 billion.
The list also includes Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, joining this year’s group of new billionaires, with a net worth of US$1 billion (R$5 billion). However, Forbes explains that the fortune does not come from equity participation in OpenAI, as the executive does not hold shares in the company, but rather from investments made in the past in a startup incubator, in a nuclear fusion startup, among others.
Global ranking of billionaires
In the 2024 edition, Frenchman Bernard Arnault appears as the richest in the world for the second year in a row. Arnault and his family’s assets are estimated at US$233 billion (almost R$1.2 trillion). The businessman heads the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, which brings together 75 fashion and cosmetics brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, Tiffany & Co. and Sephora.

Two thirds of billionaires are richer in the annual comparison, with Mark Zuckerberg being the one who gained the most from one year to the next: his wealth increased by US$ 116.2 billion, thanks to the rise in Meta’s shares, which almost tripled in amid layoffs and bets on AI and the metaverse.
