How were fugitives from Mossoró recaptured?
The pair were surrounded when they were in a car, on the outskirts of Marabá. The hunt for Deibson Cabral Nascimento33 years old, and Rogério da Silva Mendonça36, both from Acre, began on the morning of Ash Wednesday, February 14, and continued until this Thursday.
Marabá is 1,600 kilometers away Mossoró (RN). A Federal Police investigation showed that the two received help from a support network mobilized by Comando Vermelho, a criminal faction of which they are members in Acre. The two crossed three states – Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão – to get to Pará, including a boat trip.
This was the first recorded escape in the history of the federal penitentiary system.
