Serie A: Atalanta comes back, beats Fiorentina and meets Juventus in the Coppa final

Atalanta will be in the final of the Coppa Italia against Juventus on May 15 in Rome. If yesterday Turin’s team beat Lazio with agony, today the Bergamascos did the same with Fiorentina. They came back from 1-0 in the first leg with a powerful 4-1… which, however, was deceptive. The two final goals of the ‘Dea’ came in stoppage time.

It took very little time for Atalanta to balance the tie and equal the 1-0 from the first leg in Florence. Barely eight minutes passed when Koopmeiners, after a great counterattack, defined against Terracciano. Seven minutes later they annulled the 2-0 to Scamacca. It was an impressive goal… but there was a previous foul.

From then on, however, Fiorentina reacted… and rounded the tie. A lot of possession for the Italian team and several occasions. Although the clearest one was for the Bergamascos, again: De Ketelaere on a counter shot too wide.

The second part, furthermore, could not have started worse for the Florentines: Milenkovic, sent off. Direct red after a foul for being the last man. It was put in the face of the Bergamascos. But for some reason Fiorentina was looking for its third final in two years (and being, also, in the Conference semifinal). Competes very well. And Martínez Quarta equals a set piece. 1-1.

However, Atalanta had football left to get back in front. And an unleashed Gianluca Scamacca. If they canceled the first one; the second, no. A tremendous half scissors shot that made it 2-1. We were going to extra time if no one prevented it.

And Lookman did it… in the 95th minute. In an incredible way, too. With controversy. Fiorentina turned around despite having one less and left spaces. The ‘Dea’ counterattack and Lookman scored. The assistant ruled it out in the first instance for offside but the VAR agreed with the Nigerian. Shortly after, Pasalic scored the final 4-1 in the 98th minute.
