Serious violent incident Grue municipality – Politiet.no

The police have started an investigation after a woman was found badly injured at an address in Kirkenær in Grue municipality. The woman later died as a result of her injuries. A man has been arrested and charged with murder.

The police do not suspect that there are more people involved in the incident or that there is a danger to others. Control was quickly taken of the alleged perpetrator after he himself reported to the police at Kongsvinger police station approx. at 1245 this afternoon. He was arrested at the scene and was initially charged with attempted murder, but since the victim died from his injuries, the charge has now been changed to murder.

Based on the accused’s own information to the police, the police went to a private address in Kirkenær. A woman was then found badly injured and was taken to Kongsvinger hospital. She later died from her injuries.

The accused himself stated that he drove off the road between Kirkenær and Kongsvinger, and hitchhiked on to Kongsvinger. The police want to get in touch with the person or people who drove a hitchhiker to Kongsvinger this morning. They are asked to contact the police’s tipline: 94016555, alternatively 02800 during the night.

Both technical and tactical investigative steps are now being carried out to shed light on what has happened, and the police are therefore unable to provide information relating to the incident itself or any seizures.

The woman will undergo an autopsy.

The police are now working to clarify the relationship between the victim and the accused. Based on the information the police now have, there is reason to believe that the accused and the deceased knew each other.
