After the fall, Opseth left the plain bloody. She escaped the fall without major injuries and took part in the show jumping race. There, Opseth delivered a magnificent jump in the final round.

The soar led to a new world record of 230.5 metres.

– What a rollercoaster. This is so insanely fun. I am at a loss for words, says Opseth to NRK after the record.

Eirin Maria Kvandal won both the race and Raw Air overall. Opseth finished second in Vikersund.

Despite the fall in the test round, it was never relevant for Opseth to withdraw from the competition.

– When I go downhill on big hills, there is zero fear. I’m actually a little proud of the fact that I made that jump there.

After the fall in the test round, there was tension as to whether Opseth could start the race. After a check with the medical staff, the news came that she escaped without major injuries.

– It stings and stings a little, but otherwise everything is fine. It is ski flying and the most fun I know in the whole world. It’s the race I’ve been looking forward to all season, so it wasn’t relevant not to jump, says Opseth to NRK.

The competition is historic as it is the first ever race in the World Cup with female ski pilots. Saturday’s race in Vikersund was canceled due to strong winds.
