In Somalia, in the early hours of the morning, the 329 parliamentarians of the two chambers met in joint session to elect the new president. In a hangar at the Aden Abdulle airport in Mogadishu, the country’s capital, they put an end to an electoral process that has been going on for 15 months amidst riots and postponements. The elections were supposed to take place at the end of the president’s term Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamedcalled Farmaajo, in February 2021.
