Spotify is testing AI-generated playlists

Spotify Premium subscribers, initially those in the UK and Australia, can start using the new beta feature AI Playlist Create an AI-generated playlist. All that is required as input is an idea in the form of a text prompt – Spotify cites “relaxing music to tide me over during allergy season” as an example. Prompts can also include locations, animals, activities, film roles, colors, emojis, and music genres, moods, artists, and decades.

The function is accessible in the app for Android and iOS via the plus button in the library and selecting the AI Playlist option. Once created, the playlist can be refined with additional prompts such as “more pop”. Unwanted tracks can be deleted directly. As mentioned, AI Playlist is still in beta. It is not known when subscribers outside the UK and Australia will be able to test the new feature. (ubi)
