[Epoch Times, March 17, 2022]The St. Patricks Day parade, which has been suspended for two years due to the epidemic, will return to Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue on March 17.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on March 17, starting at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street, along Fifth Avenue to East 79th Street, and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of people along the way, Gothamist reported.

The 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade was canceled a week before its original date due to the pandemic. It was not until the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was confirmed last year that the organizer of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade announced in November that it would resume in 2022 to celebrate the 260th anniversary of the parade (started in 1762) and to commemorate the saint Trick’s legacy and Irish heritage and culture.

At 12 noon that day, Cardinal Timothy Dolan will hold a moment of silence outside St. Patrick’s Cathedral to “remember the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the victims of the epidemic”, and all those participating in the procession will face south toward the World Trade Center site , members of the New York City Police Department, Fire Department, Port Authority and the 69th Bagpipe Band will play condolences.

The organizer reminded that within 24 hours of St. Patrick’s Day, not only is alcohol prohibited on the Metropolitan Transportation Agency (MTA) trains, but also in facilities such as Grand Central Station; masks are still required on the mass transit system or in the station ; the streets along the parade are closed.
