The surfer from Santa Catarina Tainá Hinckel was honored this Tuesday, 9th, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Santa Catarina (Alesc), for being yet another from Santa Catarina to win a place in the group of Brazilian athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. ceremony was attended by the president of the Catarinense Sports Foundation (Fesporte), Freibergue Nascimento.
The Paris Games take place between July 26th and August 11th and the surfing event will be held on Teahupoo beach, on the island of Tahiti, part of the French Polynesia archipelago, an overseas territory of France, in the Pacific Ocean.
“On behalf of Governor Jorginho Mello, Fesporte and the entire family of athletes from Santa Catarina and Brazil, I thank you for all your efforts and at the same time, I wish you every success at the Paris Olympics”, stated the president of Fesporte.
Tainá, 21 years old, is from Palhoça, and doesn’t hide her expectations. “This will be my first Olympics and I’m looking forward to being among the best. I am very happy with my performance in the last competitions. I continue to train hard and I hope to make the most of this opportunity to compete with the big names in world surfing”, he highlighted.
The surfing competitions will take place between the 27th and 30th of July, with 48 surfers from various parts of the world, 24 in the men’s suit and 24 in the women’s suit.
