A strong earthquake has just been felt in Taipei, Taiwan. The earthquake recorded a magnitude of 5.2: the US Geophysical Institute USGS reports this on its website. The earthquake was located off the central-eastern coast of the island, 30 km south of Hualien City and at a depth of 8.9 km. No tsunami warnings are reported.

The initial shock was followed by two other earthquakes, both on land, with magnitudes 5.2 and 5.1. The first (5.2) was located 33 km south-east of Puli, at a depth of 32 km. The second hit very close to the coast, 21 km south of Hualien City, at a depth of 10 km. Last April 3, the same area of ​​Taiwan was hit by a violent 7.4 magnitude earthquake in which at least 17 people lost their lives.
