Andy Roddick, former number 1 in the tennis world, makes several cancers public in a podcast. He is visibly affected by the treatment of his illness. One message is particularly important to him.

Former tennis player Andy Roddick has revealed several skin cancers. In the podcast “Served with Andy Roddick”, the former world number one reported on a “crazy” morning after which he had now decided to go public with the news. “I have dealt with various types of skin cancer since I stopped playing,” said the 41-year-old American. Five or six years ago, among other things, a squamous cell tumor was removed from his lip.

While recording his podcast, Roddick’s face was red in places and his eyes were puffy; The American also showed his reddened forehead as he took off his cap. He explained this with laser treatment. “I never talked about it. “This morning we were at the facial laser thing, so to those watching on YouTube it looks like I got into a fight,” said Roddick, known for his snarky attitude. The problems would probably accompany him for the rest of his life, said the 2003 US Open winner, who ended his career in 2012. However, he doesn’t expect any pity.

He linked the problems to the many hours he was exposed to sunlight while playing tennis. Roddick urged parents to put lotion on their children, especially when they played tennis. “Use sunscreen. And put sunscreen on your children – especially on the tennis court.” The problems would not appear at the age of eight, but perhaps at the age of 38, emphasized the father of two children. He doesn’t want to complain: “Nothing is wrong, everything is good – but use sunscreen.”
