A number of students from the Department of Politics and Government (DPP) Fisipol UGM, lecturers and alumni asked the Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Pratikno and the President’s Special Staff Coordinator (Stafsus), Ari Dwipayana, to ‘go home’ back to the path of democracy. Ari Dwipayana also responded to this statement.

“Thank you for the ‘love letter’ from students to me and Prof Pratikno,” said Ari to journalists, Tuesday (13/2/2024).

Ari understands differences of opinion in society and academic figures. According to him, criticism and debate are healthy things in democracy.

“In the academic community, criticism and debate are something healthy,” he said.

“Therefore, we must continue to maintain an academic culture with critical, open thinking, respect for diversity/differences in perspective, accompanied by a spirit of contribution to the common good,” he continued.

Ari said he and Minister of State Secretary Pratikno were committed to maintaining integrity. As well as strengthening democracy in government.

“Prof Pratikno and I have the same commitment to maintaining integrity, strengthening democracy, building good and effective governance, and devoting energy and abilities to the progress of the nation and state,” he said.

Reported detikJogja, a number of students from the Department of Politics and Government (DPP) Fisipol UGM, lecturers and alumni made statements regarding the current political situation. They asked the Minister of State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Pratikno and the President’s Special Staff Coordinator (Stafsus), Ari Dwipayana to ‘return’ to the path of democracy.

“Why are we gathering today, because of the democratic situation that is happening today. We see that in power there are efforts to harm democracy for personal and group interests by those in power,” said UGM DPP Fisipol student representative Faris Rubiansyah to reporters, Monday ( 12/2).

“And what is even more unfortunate is that there are DPP academics who are in the vortex of power,” he continued.

Rubiansyah said, it has been more than 20 years since democracy existed in Indonesia, today democracy in Indonesia is actually experiencing a decline.

“Today, in the midst of the 2024 General Election, we see that democracy is on the verge of death. The people are being treated to a series of acts of ethical deviance,” he said.
