On the evening of August 11, local time, Taliban spokesman Mujahid issued a statement on social media saying that the Taliban had occupied the police headquarters in Rashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand Province, and captured the city’s central prison in Kandahar and released it. Hundreds of prisoners were killed.
