He also said that now is the time to let the matter pass. France needs to realize that “We made the decision (to cancel the contract) in the best interest of our country. From Morrison onwards, everyone will not do this. Apologies”, but it is important for France and Australia to work closely together to face regional challenges together.
After Australia abandoned the French submarine agreement, it signed the AUKUS (Australian-British-American Alliance) agreement with the United Kingdom and the United States, and will build nuclear-powered submarines with the help of these two countries.
On the eve of the signing of the AUKUS agreement, Australian Finance Minister Josh Frydenberg warned that Australia is at the forefront of strategic competition with China in an environment of increasing global competition.
