Empoli stopped Juventus’s run with a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Stadium against the ten-man Old Lady. The episode that determines the match is the expulsion of Arkadiusz Milik after just 18 minutes of play.
In the 50th minute Massimiliano Allegri’s team took the lead thanks to Dusan Vlahovic’s goal, but after exactly 20 minutes the Azzurri equalized with Tommaso Baldanzi. In the standings the Bianconeri are on 53 points, Empoli on 17.
The first half
In the 16th minute Milik mishandled the ball, Cerri took possession of it and the sliding Polish attacker hit him on the ankle on the edge of the penalty area. The referee first warns him, then checks the VAR and sends him off.
At the 28th corner for Empoli, a cross into the penalty area made by Maleh, Cerri hits the ball which goes high. In the 47th minute Miretti steals the ball from Gyasi and shoots with his right foot, his shot goes over the crossbar.
The second half
In the second half, at the 50th corner kick for Juventus from the left, Gatti touches the ball which is rejected by the Azzurri defense, Vlahovic’s left-footed volley is a stone’s throw from the goal and the ball goes into the net: the Bianconeri have the lead.
In the 68th Cambiaghi goes on the run to the left and, from the back line, sends a cross into the center of the area, headed by Cancellieri and the ball goes out. Two minutes later Luperto from the left makes a pass to the center for Baldanzi who, from the edge of the penalty area, stops the ball and unleashes a low shot with his right foot which scores: it’s the Azzurri’s equaliser.
At the 77th corner kick for the Bianconeri, a commotion in the area and Juventus players claim the penalty for an alleged handball by Ismajli. On the change in front, Cambiaghi’s long throw to Cancellieri, but Weah is faster and recovers it.
At the 82nd tip from Zurkowski for Cambiaghi who kicks first, Szczesny manages to deflect it for a corner.
