CNN Spanish reports that the Spanish National Police has arrested a Venezuelan citizen in Barcelona who is said to have a prominent position in the Aragua Train criminal organization. According to authorities, the man is also the brother of the leader of the Venezuelan criminal gang and has a red notice from Interpol against him.
The Venezuelan citizen is wanted in his home country for alleged involvement in crimes such as terrorism, human trafficking, arms trafficking, extortion, money laundering, and criminal association. The Spanish National Police are now investigating whether the detainee intended to expand the criminal organization in Spain and operate from there.
The individual is currently in prison awaiting extradition. The Aragua Train, led by Héctor Guerrero, originated in a prison in central Venezuela and has since grown its presence in South America and some cities in the United States, as per official reports.
