Jakarta (ANTARA) – PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, through the Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, suspects that a series of accidents involving seven vehicles at the Halim Utama Toll Gate, East Jakarta, Wednesday morning, was caused by a reckless truck driver.

“It is suspected that driving recklessly, a light truck caused an accident at the Halim Utama Toll Gate,” said Senior General Manager of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad Regional Division, Widiyatmiko Nursejati in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to him, the vehicle came from the direction of Jatiwaringin and drove irregularly towards the Halim Utama Toll Gate, so it hit several vehicles in front of it and ended up flipping on its side.

As a result of the accident, he said, three Halim Utama toll booths were temporarily closed and the capacity of the substations that could operate was optimized.

It was recorded that seven vehicles were involved in the accident and there were no casualties.

One of the victims, Sugihartono, admitted that the accident occurred when he and other vehicles were queuing to pay the toll at the Halim Utama Toll Gate.

“In front of me, there were two cars queuing to pay the toll. Suddenly a red truck hit my car from behind, I drove forward and hit the car in front,” he said.

Sugihartono, who was not injured, said the back of his car was heavily damaged because it was hit by a truck. Likewise, the front part was also damaged.

“The back and front of my car were destroyed. The back was hit by a truck, the front hit the car in front. I wasn’t injured. Someone was taken by an ambulance to the injured,” he said.
