Front runners SC Magdeburg impressively underlined their title ambitions in the handball Bundesliga with a demonstration of power in the top game against MT Melsungen. The Champions League winner clearly won the duel against the cup semi-finalists on Sunday with 39:24 (16:11) and is now leading the table with 36:4 points ahead of the Füchse Berlin with the same number of points.

The Berliners won on Sunday evening at HSV Hamburg 32:30 (19:15) and are still the Magdeburg team’s fiercest title rivals, who extended their winning streak to 29 games without defeat across all competitions with the sweeping victory. “The joy is huge, the series is slowly becoming scary. We’re trying to continue it as long as possible,” said left winger Matthias Musche.
The 31-year-old, who extended his contract with the runner-up until 2027 before kick-off, contributed four goals to the success. The outstanding man for the winner was goalkeeper Nikola Portner, who saved 13 shots.
Already in the first half, the SCM, who had destroyed the last championship dreams of defending champion THW Kiel last Wednesday, had the game fully under control and were ahead by eight goals at times.
