PARIS – “Unforgivable crimes for the Republic.” Emmanuel Macron continues on the troubled road to try to reconcile France and Algeria. And it publicly acknowledges the responsibilities of the French police in a massacre of Algerian protesters in Paris sixty years ago. In front of the relatives of the victims, moved and in tears, Macron participated in a tribute on the banks of the Seine, at the bridge where dozens of demonstrators had been killed who had responded to the appeal of the National Liberation Front (Fln) for the independence of Algeria.
