Marius Müller: Strong saves against Zimmermann (25th), Vermeij (67th), Tzolis (74th) and Iyoha (76th). A strong support that also radiated a lot of positivity. No chance with Tanaka’s goal to make it 1-1. Best Schalke player! Note: 1,5
Brandon Soppy: Found everywhere on the square. Defensively clearly improved compared to the weak performance against Elversberg (all Schalke scores in the individual criticism). Offensively harmless: His shots and crosses were regularly blocked by the Düsseldorf defense. Note: 3,5
Schalke individual criticism against Fortuna Düsseldorf: Grade 3 for Kalas and Kaminski
Tomas Kalas: At the beginning, Schalke 04 had Fortuna from Düsseldorf very well under control. The central defender duo Kalas/Kaminski were also absolutely stable for long stretches. During the second half, the coordination wasn’t always right. Still, overall a decent performance with 86% duels won. Note: 3
Marcin Kaminski: Hardly challenged defensively, but with a whopping 56 ball contacts in the first half alone. In the second half of the game there was much more focus because Fortuna increased the pressure massively. His tackle rate (73%) was not as good as Kalas’s, but he managed to score more balls (80% instead of 78%). Note: 3

Schalke individual criticism against Fortuna Düsseldorf: Grade 3.5 for Ouwejan and Schallenberg
Thomas Ouwejan: Hit many a cross (but only 3 of 8 arrived) and set up three shots on goal. He tried to finish on goal twice. Defensively with weaknesses: After half an hour, Klaus escaped behind him and headed past the box from close range. Note: 3,5
Ron Schallenberg: In the defensive midfield, he stood out above all for his willingness to run and his enthusiasm. Still stable in the first half, they later found it difficult to slow down Düsseldorf’s furious attacks. Won less than half of his duels. Note: 3,5
Schalke individual criticism against Fortuna Düsseldorf: Kenan Kraman strikes again
Yusuf Kabadai: Offered some good running routes on the left offensive wing. But also some ball losses. In total, he was only involved in one shot on goal and had a meager 38 touches of the ball. That was too little. Note: 4,5
Kenan Karaman: By the 55th minute he had only had 23 touches of the ball and not a single shot on goal. Then Schalke’s life insurance struck again and hit a right-footed shot from 18 meters flat into the net. After 72 minutes, he headed over the goal from a Seguin free kick from the penalty spot. Paul Seguin: Allowed the Tzolis cross in Düsseldorf’s biggest chance of the first half (30′). Otherwise, hard-working but inconspicuous: ran 12 kilometers and was the most active player of the evening. Clean in the passing game (94% arrived), his standards were decent. Shortly before the final whistle, he turned up the heat again and really wanted to win the game. It wasn’t quite enough. Note: 3,5
Simon Terodde: Recorded the first shot of the game, but headed clearly over the goal in the 22nd minute. Collected four shots on goal in the first half alone, but it was never really dangerous. Instead, he later cleverly made it 1-0 for Karaman. There are deductions for his behavior at opposing corners. Among other things, before Tanaka’s equalizer, only the second winner in the aerial duel with de Wijs. Note: 4

Keke Top: Moved into the starting line-up after his goal in Elversberg. The 20-year-old occasionally flashed his skills while dribbling. He was also extremely snappy in duels (17 duels won are the top value of the evening!) In the second half he was exhausted and struggled with one or two referee decisions. Note: 3
Steven van der Sloot: Came on for Brandon Soppy in the 68th minute. Important clearance with a tackle in the 80th minute against a Düsseldorf player who was ready to take a shot. Great cross to Ouedraogo in stoppage time. Note: 2,5
