The Swedes got revenge – Kristine Stavås Skistad beaten by Linn Svahn in Canmore – Dagsavisen

Skistad ended up in a photo finish in a duel with Jonna Sundling just behind. It showed 2nd place for Skistad.

Sundling and Svahn, together with Skistad, were considered the biggest favorites in the classic sprint in Canmore. The Swedes got off to a good start, but some mess just before the run meant that Skistad got in touch with the blue-and-yellow duo again, but it didn’t quite last.

– Svahn looked like a million on the run, said Viaplay expert Niklas Dyrhaug.

Heidi Weng was the only Norwegian who followed Skistad to the semi-finals, but struggled in her heat and finished last. Thus, Skistad was the only Norwegian hope in the final.

Skistad has long had a rivalry with the Swedes. She added fuel to the fire when she blew a kiss to the Swedes as she crossed the finish line and won Saturday’s free sprint. Now the Swedes got their revenge.

Five out of six of the Norwegian cross-country girls made it to the quarter-finals, but only two made it to the semi-finals. Tiril Udnes Weng, Mathilde Myhrvold and Astrid Øyre Slind all smoked in the quarter-finals.
