ELMAU – Jordanian king Abdullah, perhaps with too much optimism, went so far as to say that he would support the creation of a NATO in the Middle East. Certainly, however, the secret talks that the United States organized in Sharm el Sheikh last March, putting the main Arab countries at the same table with Israel to discuss the proposal for a common defense from the Iranian threat, is an unprecedented novelty that it could pave the way for a historic turning point in the region.
